Radar Mounting: Two Hex Nuts

Really just curious about this:

In the DRS12A installation manual they suggest using 2 hex nuts on each mounting bolt to secure the pedestal to the mount. Is there an advantage to using two hex nuts workrather than a hex nut with a lock nut or something like that? Are the nuts stainless?

The nuts are stainless.
Lock nuts have two potential flaws in this application:
1. Lock nuts are prone to galling or "cold welding". This is extremely annoying at best.
2. The added friction or tension from using a lock nut could, potentially, drive the stud in further than desired. This could strip the threads or maybe even crack the housing. During removal, this would tend to pull the stud out rather than remove the nut.
