Product suggestion: rudder position instrument - reverse the orientation

Here's a minor, nit-picky suggestion for the development team to consider. The digital gauge for rudder position has a half-dial with the needle pointed down. It would be more intuitive if the needle pointed up. If I rotate the steering wheel clockwise, the needle should also rotate clockwise.

I guess the designers made it so the needle points in the direction the rudder actually turns, which is opposite of the steering wheel. That's logical, but that extra layer of abstraction makes it counter-intuitive.

Granted, there's really only one situation when I use this gauge. Before docking, I use it to center the rudders. I want to know at a glance which direction to turn the wheel. Like I said, it's a nit-picky suggestion.

Thanks, I will pass it to the development team. Funny thing they were just talking about a revamp of gauges the other day.

Cool. Hey - while they are at it, ask them to add twin-engine gauges. Port and starboard on a single gauge with numeric values below. That would be awesome.
