Just wondering with the new software update if you can use a seastation GPS instead of furuno scx-20 satellite compass to record accurate bathymetric on the TZT3. Trying to keep the hardware to a minimum on the hardtop

mdyoun1,

NAVNET TZtouch3 series MFDs TZT9F/12F/16F/19F will create precision bottom maps when connected to the DFF3D Multi-Beam Sonar, and so it requires both Position and Heading data inputs. Satellite Compasses like as SCX-20 or the SC-33 are highly recommended over the DFF3D’s internal built-in transducer motion sensor. Both of these units have higher accuracy than most typical magnetic compasses, and both can utilize their motion sensors and heave correction for providing the highest PBG accuracy.

If the Seastation GPS can output both Position and Heading via the NMEA2000 network, then it should work. Just be sure to follow all the DFF3D's Set-up information to improve PBG accuracy by setting the installed transducer and satellite compass position offset values.

Keep in mind that PBG bottom mapping depth can be influenced by bottom structure, bottom hardness (strength of echo), the transducer installation, and water quality, etc.

Does a Seakeeper have a NMEA output for roll?
I believe heave would have to cone from a satelite compass?
