Looking at adding a AIS class B transponder to my tzt2-12 system and it has the ability to transmit NMEA data via wifi and througha USB cable. Can the tzt2 receive info via either of these?

My thinking is it could help act as a NMEA 0183 bridge.

Thanks!

Good afternoon Griff,

The TZT2 can use a couple different methods for AIS. If you use a Furuno AIS product it will receive AIS information via Ethernet. For non-Furuno AIS units you will have to use NMEA2000.

Thanks C-Bass,
Is there a list of things you can do with WiFi and the USB anywhere?
I know you can use WiFi for:
- Interacting with mobile devices via Furuno apps
- Downloading wx forecasts
- and...

And for the USB:
- transfer navigation and chart info
- You can use a USB stick or an SD card using a USB card reader
- and...

If this is it, it seems the technology is being very underutilized.

Thanks again,
DG

Wi-Fi is for getting NavCenter weather, using the compatible APPS, getting unlock codes automatically, Upgrading the unit software (when it isn't an OS update), and soon to exchange data with Active Captain.

Here is a table for your USB and micro SD functions.

Thank you for the info Johnny,

I'd like to encourage Furuno to allow their engineers and smart folks to continue to explore the potential of these products, to the benefit of the end user.

Best,
DG
