I am changing my mfd and radar from Garmin to the Navet 3 and DRS4DNXT radar.
will the navnat still show ais targets if connected to nema 2000 that is a gramin ais transponder
As long as the AIS is providing standard NMEA 2000 sentences it will show. AIS will show on the plotter screen easy but to show up on a radar you require heading be available to the system so it knows where to place the targets in the 360 degrees of the radar image.
To piggyback on Johnny, the SCX-20 is worth every penny. I have 2 boats with Furuno systems on them. Between the heading accuracy, and the heaving compensation that cleans the sounder images up I wouldn’t want to have the systems without them.
