NavNet 3D and AIS

Running Navnet and unable to display AIS targets on the screen.....also running a standalone version of Explorer on a PC tied into NavNet.........can populate the standalone version with Ais because we have an Internet connection and thus get Ais thru marinetraffic.com.....why can't I see direct transmitted ais target on either program.....we are running a ComNav Mariner X2 AIS receiver.......other vessel report they see us

I assume you have correctly connected the NMEA0183 output of the AIS to one of the NN3D NMEA0183 inputs? You also need to go into the NN3D setup wizard and select that serial port to be active, check the "AIS" data box and set the baud rate to 38400.

Also make sure you have AIS targets turned on in the "target" menu.

The NN3D can't use AIS data from NMEA 2000, it can only use high speed NMEA 0183.

Looks like the ComNav Mariner X2 AIS receiver can use both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000.
