NA Pilot 711c ETA

The ETA on my 711c is off compared to the TZT2 and it doesn’t change eta with a change in boat speed like the TZT2 does. Here are a few screen shots showing the displays, any thoughts?

What are the software versions being used on both systems?
What are the primary GPS and Speed sources being selected (Primary) for use by both systems? On the pilot is that showing hours and mins to ETA and the other is exact local time? Maybe that is the difference. You must compare apples and apples.

Hi Johnny

Good questions!

TZT2 is ver 6.21
NavPilot 711 is unknown version - how do I check and what should it be at?
Primary speed source on the both is GP330B

I beleive the pilot is showing the 9th day at 7:23 but I didn’t see anything in the operators manual explaining or able to adjust.

You should see the software versions of the processor and color control head upon power up of the pilot. The current version is 1.27 for the PROC and 1.08 for that color head.

I am not sure if it will help but you might take the TZT2 up to v6.26. I will see if I can find anything about the time format the Pilot is displaying.

If you bring up time and date on the pilot does it read current time and date correctly?

I played with some units in the shop. It looks like the NavPilot has a problem if the GP330B is used a GPS source because unlike the TZT2, it doesn't doesn't have a way to set a local time offset. (nor does the GP330B) We will report it to Japan. Had this been a GP33 source, it would work because the source GPS could have offset applied in the GP33. The TZT2 unit is the one you will want to refer to for correct ETA. It might be possible to have the pilot with the same numbers if you were to connect via 0183 to the pilot. The TZT2 could send the GPS with applied offset and it would most likely be a good work around. I will test that and let you know.

So my processor is 1.21... what’s the history of updates/changes to go to 1.27 and how do we do it?

Like with all our Furuno units, the software history, software and instructions are posted under said product page at www.FurunoUSA.com. When bringing up the Navpilot 711c, select "View Support/tech info" then when the page updates; select "SOFTWARE"
