Mount height of DRS4D-NXT 24" on hard top?

Question,

I will be installing a DRS4D-NXT 24" to replace the older furuno open array. My question is a matter of placement of the new dome radar on the hardtop. The current open array sits pretty much centered on the hard top with a 8" tall search light in front of it. If I place the dome radar flush, I wonder if the 8" light will be an issue? I am not thinking it will since the current radar seems to work with the tall satellite dome and other antenna items behind it?

I have attached a picture. Thanks for any advice.

Good morning,
Based on your pictures I would recommend mounting the DRS4DNXT on a pedestal of some kind to get it above the search light. Mounting the dome flush on the top with the search light in the beam of the radar has a big potential to cause reflection and make the radar preform poorly.

Marlin My Darlin is absolutely correct. You need to get above that light. It is X-band not X-ray. It can't see through objects. The open array is currently shooting over the top of the light. Never do you want anything in front of the radar beam in the direction of travel. You might want to check the NMEA 0400 installation standards on the distance to that Sat TV or Sat Com back there because that doesn't look good either. I guess if you haven't had issues in the past maybe you will be fine but it isn't to standards and it will provide radar blockage to the aft at a minimum.

Thanks for the great advice from both of you, I will get it mounted up and over the light. As for the satellite TV stuff, its old and coming off anyway :)

thanks for the help!!!
