MFD8 transducer settings

Any users of MFD8’s with TM260 transducer connected please help.
I went deep dropping last week and could not sound the bottom at 400m / 1200ft.
I’m not sure if I have my sounder correctly setup.
1-will the sounder work if I leave TD-ID selected in the setup or
2- do I need to select 1kw-526T-HDD.
I’m getting confused and frustrated. I know this is good equipment but I can’t get it working.

Hello Coop,

When you access the Installation Wizard, select the sounder tab and set your transducer type to model and yes select 1KW 526T-HDD or 1KW 525T-TMD.

Are you running your sounder on AUTO mode (Fishing or Cruising)? or are you in manual mode and adjusting the gain/clutter to your liking?

Thank you,

Hello,
Sorry for late reply.
I run in manual mode.
I selected the model number as suggested and the HF worked perfectly. Unfortunately the LF was very bad and I kept losing the depth reading.
Can I post pics here?

Hello,

Yes, you can post pictures on here so we can look at it. Does it lose bottom when moving or just the bottom reading is not there at all on the low side even at the dock?

Did the transducer get kicked up on the kick up bracket? If you have problems on drift, it is something with the mounting, transducer, or sounder. I would recommend checking that it is snapped into the bracket so that the angle is correct and the face of the transducer is clean and not painted. If still an issue, I would recommend a dealer check the transducer with the TDT-1000 tester. No one has been running the sounder with the boat out of the water, have they?

Ah yes. As mentioned in the other thread I left it running for about 1 hour out of water.
That happened due to the sounder having a seperate power switch because the mfd’s won’t power it up for some weird reason.
