Master slave question

A couple of questions for you.
1) when you have two chart plotters and have one set as Master and the other as Slave what does that do for you? I know that one thing that happens is that the master shares the key with the slave so that charts purchased under the master SID is available on the slave CP. What else does the master slave configuration do? Does it recognize settings (boat name, size, SCX20 placement, from the master for the slave? Or is it just a feature for chart access?

2) When doing a factory reset, how would you back up the settings on a CP? Can you export settings from one CP to another using a USB or other memory device?

thanks for any insight you can give.

1. Chart Master setting only creates the system ID and shares it across the network. This allows for the usage of for-pay charts across the network.
2. Home/Furuno - Settings - Files In here you can import/export user data and settings. Most settings are saved but you may find minor things that are not. Such as prefered data source selections.
