Issue with 1870f reading depth and marks

I have completed my first year with Furuno's 1870f. I fish the chesapeake bay and towards the end of the season, the unit had difficulty reading the bottom ( and any fish marks) while running open. Also even drifting, it would occasionally blink in and out. The previous owner chose the 1870 but left the original transducer on. Thoughts as to what is causing this? See attachment for pic.

Are you able to diagnose what transducer you may have on board ?
The transducer seems pretty worn out and might be time for a replacement.

If you can get the model number for the transducer we can start there.
