Incremental update 2.07 problems

Trying to perform incremental update to DRS6A via MFD12 before I upgrade my MFD12 to TZ2.

I followed the instructions on the website and got an error during update on the MFD that says "nwuppg_windowsxp.exe typeloadException"

it does give me the option to exit and it continues w the upgrade but won't shut off the MFD and when I restart manually it gets stuck during boot up.

Any ideas?

So I did a master reset on the MFD and now I think Ive been able to update w the incremental 2.07 for the DRS6A in preparation for the new TZ2 plotter.

Now my plotter will not connect to the Radar or sounders.

It see them when it scans for peripherals just before it goes into initialization mode but when is searches for the sounder during install, it cannot get past that step. It says searching for sounder and stops there no matter how long I wait.

Unplugged the power, checked all connections. Doesn't seem to matter

Any ideas ?

I think you have two different things going on. If the radar is seen it the wizard, it is working. What sounder do you have connected? If you have the DFF1-UHD; you should have the ORG wire disconnected (T-ID) going from the transducer to the sounder. If it is connected it can hang up the MFD during the wizard.

ah!! yes i do have a dff1-uhd

thank you

Despite that, I think i did achieve the update for the Radar to work w the new tzt2

i am going to test tomorrow so we will see.

Update did not go through until I disconnected the entire network minus one MFD12 (the master) and the radar.

only then did it work and was able to then update the new power source (not mentioned anywhere that I saw) for radar and achieve sucess and integrate the new tzt2 plotter.

The TZT2 and MFD (NN3D) can never be on the same bus together. I am glad you got it all sorted out.

They weren't run together. TZT2 was always tested by itself w Radar alone.

I disconnected all the peripherals from the existing MFD12 network (which included another MFD12, and an MFD8 along w the radar, 2 sounders, weather, and AIS.

Isolated a single MFD12 (which happened to be the master from the network) and DRS6A alone to do the 2.07 incremental update again. This seemed to clear up all the errors i was getting (assuming from the peripherals) , did the update again...which worked for the DRS6A...but, it still did not run on the TZT2.

To Rule out a bad PSU012 which i just bought, I substituted it for the power source back w the MFD12 that I already updated. Im assuming the MFD12 also had to do an update to the PSU012 becasue at first it did not run the radar but I could tell that it could see it, After about a minute the Radar came on and then I switched it back over to the TZT2 and then it worked properly.

I dont recall seeing anywhere in the tech literature about having to update the PSU012 too but I think in the end that is what happened.

Unless you can tell me otherwise based on the info?

Thanks

You have to power the radar, which is well documented. There is no retrofit documents because every installation is different. Many NavNet 3D units have the PSU012 already fitted. For those powering from the radar from the MFD...and the MFD is removed..power must be found elsewhere. In this case the PSU012 was added. Others might need the PSU017 (for dome) or decide to go off the shelf. No matter what, the radar needs power.

Thanks Johnny,

My statement was not the "need for power", it was the need to "update" the PSU012. I can only assume because it would not run the radar w the tzt2 until I ran the new PSU012 w the old MFD12 (which contained the 2.07 update) and got it to turn on the radar, that there are elements inside the PSU012 that also require updating to run the DRS6A w the new TZT2....correct?

Curious if this is in fact the case

Thanks!

There has been no hardware changes to the PSU012. I think someone has twisted the real story a bit to make it sound more complex than it is. The PSU012 has a jump wire (J7) that is not installed for NN3D systems to allow power sync. (Although the jumper comes with the power unit when purchased) When moving to the TZT or TZT2 where power sync isn't possible; the J7 jumper must be installed. It is a simple plug. Once plugged in, it is off and running whenever the breaker is turned on. There is no real hardware change or modifications from the original unit design. I understand what you mean now.

Jumper was installed. Got all that.

My apologies...need to clarify. When I said "update" the PSU012 I was referring to Software update. Not Hdwr.

Ot seemed to only work after I first hooked the PSU up to the old MFD12 w the 2.07 update in it.
Only then did it seem to then work w the new TZT2.

So the question specifically is, does a brand new PSU012 also require the 2.07 update via the MFD12 to run the DSR6A on the new TZT2 ?

Thanks for following up Johnny

The PSU012 is a power supply, it has no software nor receive software updates. The MFD and the Radar Scanner gets updated but not the power supply.

Ok good to know Thank you

Was weird. Only seemed to work w the TZT2 after it was hooked up to the MFD12. All well ...maybe coincidence.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue. Navnet 3d on 2.13, drs6 on 14:03. When trying to update the drs using 2.07 incremental I get the same error and it won't take it. Everything is disconnected except the radar and the mfd12.

We normally prefer you don't hijack old threads because your question can get missed and unanswered. If having problems with incremental software, I would recommend using the PC software to update the radar. The instructions and software are posted under the DRS6A product page. Older 2.07 incremental might not like your newer 2.13 OS or some other odd reason that you are getting the error.

I just replaced my NN3DBB with two TZT16 screens, I have a DRS12A radar that I have not been able to update the software to work with my new equipment, I have tried to do the update with my PC but I do not know what I am doing wrong, I am not completely sure of the configuration of the IP address but I can't get the download process to start once I turn off the power to the radar to reboot
