I Ordered

patch

New member
Tues I receive Tzt3 12" ; bbwx4; and as soon as available the Drsd4 NXT dome.

I am changing out one garmin 1242xsv (of 2). I have Garmin autopilot, Fusion, Garmin vhf, and Garmin 9 axis heading sensor.

I will keep the transducer on the Garmin. Hopefully I'll be able to control the autopilot from Tzt3 and use the garmin heading sensor. The plan is to tie into the nmea 2000 primarily to access the heading sensor and autopilot. If not I'll take the furuno off the nmea 2000 and get a furuno heading sensor (likely the scx20) and run the autopilot off the remaining Garmin.

(Typically I dont use the MFD to control the autopilot except getting to the first spot and getting home at the end of day)

I plan to watch the user comments on the dff3d and mutibeam transducer......might add that later on.

patch,

Please keep us updated on the progress on your TZT3 Installation, and all the devices that you had listed should play well together on the NMEA2000 network.

However, one item that I would absolutely add to your package is the SCX20. This unit will provide you with all your Heading and Position needs, with incredible accuracy with no multipath issues. In fact, I know several Garmin Dealers who are recommending the SCX20 for their MFD packages.

And if you add the DFF3D later on, all the data from the SCX20 will only enhance the DFF3D's performance.

An update....the tzt12f is now installed...... I took it for a test spin this morning and set up the depth offset and time zone etc. I don't have a transducer connected so depth comes from garmin....so far so good.

The Tzt12f sees the garmin equipment but as of yet I have not been able to have the furuno engage the garmin autopilot. I will continue to see if I can make that happen...but if not....I can engage it w/ the remaining Garmin screen.

I removed a Garmin 1242xsv and installed the furuno in its place. Amazingly the dash cutout fit the furuno almost perfect.....I had to dremel off a couple of high spots from the opening and the furuno slipped right in. I knew the measurements were close but this worked out better than I expected.

I get the bbwx4 today and I 'll probably fit that starting tomorrow.

The radar is on back order ----delivery date still unknown.

I tried to upgrade to the v2 software but the screen didn't recognize the flashdrive....when I got home I reformatted the drive (looks like it had an unknown file on it) and I'll try the update later today or tomorrow.

So as I said elsewhere in this forum.....I did the update on the TZ12f to V2. Installed the bbwx4
and subscribed to fish-mapping and audio.

My wife and I went out fishing yesterday, using the first time our new equipment. (As you may recall we a removed a Garmin screen and replace it with the TZ12f.

My wife and I have been boating/fishing for over 30 years together...... This is the first time she ever complimented any electronics ! She stated how happy she was that we made the switch from garmin to the new Furuno Tzt12f......

Moreover, we are both impressed with Furuno support......

:jump :jump So happy you are pleased. Sorry to hear you have to wait on the radar but shipping has been a problem with Covid. Now with the ship blocking the canal many delays might be increased for awhile. Hopefully they clear that ship out of the channel soon. Once your system is complete, I would love to see some photos. It sounds like a very sweet setup.

When I ordered the bbwx4, tzt12f and radar...... the radar was on backorder, so I received and installed the tzt12f and bbwx4 about a month ago....... the delay in the radar delivery was, in retrospect, welcome since I was able to focus on installing the screen and weather and then get familiar with it.

Last week I received the DRSD 4nxt and my wife and I installed it over the past several days. The box had airship stamps on it so I guess it was flown in from Japan.

I installed it on a 4 degree wedge and added an additional 1 inch spacer to further elevate the height. I passed the cable through a scanstrut cable gland, thru the aluminum mounting plate on the T-top, and again through a scanstrut gland on the side of the e-box and thence down the rear t-top vertical. The work went pretty smooth and included the normal amount of self-inflicted annoyance. ( There was a complete absence of foul language narrative----that rarely happens).

I purchased 100mm M10 rods and inserted them into the unit and then placed the unit on the wedge and was able to, by careful adjustment, get the arrangement thru the holes I drilled in the t-top mounting plate. I removed the forward rods and installed 80mm bolts and washers, and nuts and washers on the rear threaded rods....torqued the deal to 20n-m.

The wiring went smoothly.....I just need to buy blank labels for the bus-bar and for marking the wires...... for now I have painters-tape w/magic marker to id the wires and connections.

We took the boat out and adjusted the heading to align with the boat direction and all is good.

So far so good. The pics shows the tzt12f on the port-side dash (where the garmin used to be) and the existing garmin on the starboard.
