We recently purchased our boat and the installed Furuno gear is non-functional. We have an external array about 4' long, a small display that powers up and seems to work but doesn't do much, a large display that's completely dead with a delaminated screen, and a network sounder. The large-diameter cable from the array has been cut and coiled under the flybridge helm, so I cannot connect it to anything. I believe the network sounder is connected to the small display but I'm not 100% certain.
I would like to test the equipment to determine what works, but I'm unsure of what the "minimum" requirements are. Seems like I need to replace the thick cable from the array, but I'm not sure what it should connect to, or whether I would need additional equipment in order to verify whether my partial system works at all.
I believe the local Furuno dealer has a cable I can borrow for testing purposes, and they also have quite a selection of older gear if I need something else for testing purposes - but they're a fairly expensive option for this kind of investigative troubleshooting, so I'd rather do that on my own if possible.
