How Can I Test the System on New-to-Me Boat?

We recently purchased our boat and the installed Furuno gear is non-functional. We have an external array about 4' long, a small display that powers up and seems to work but doesn't do much, a large display that's completely dead with a delaminated screen, and a network sounder. The large-diameter cable from the array has been cut and coiled under the flybridge helm, so I cannot connect it to anything. I believe the network sounder is connected to the small display but I'm not 100% certain.

I would like to test the equipment to determine what works, but I'm unsure of what the "minimum" requirements are. Seems like I need to replace the thick cable from the array, but I'm not sure what it should connect to, or whether I would need additional equipment in order to verify whether my partial system works at all.

I believe the local Furuno dealer has a cable I can borrow for testing purposes, and they also have quite a selection of older gear if I need something else for testing purposes - but they're a fairly expensive option for this kind of investigative troubleshooting, so I'd rather do that on my own if possible.

First photo ("Marine Radar") is the dead 10" display unit. Last photo is the functional unit.

The radar likely connected to the 10.4" unit and can not run on the 7" even if cable is changed. The electronics used by a 7" display is totally different. A 10" radar will not directly connect to 7" display or vice versa. If testing the radar you would need a NN1 (RDP139) or VX2 (RDP149) 10 inch unit to run it.

They both worked at one point; sounds like the array connected to the 10.4" unit and perhaps the 7" unit was piggybacked off of that? Maybe via the network sounder?

I've since found a Furuno NavNet black box unit RPU-015 with a mating control panel that I think might work. If I understand correctly, I can connect the array (via a new cable) to the RPU, and then use that to drive a separate display. Might not be a great long-term solution but would allow me to test the remaining equipment, wouldn't it?

Yes, the 7" would network and see the radar through the 10". Yes the BlackBox Vx2 (RPU-015) is the same as a 10" in regards to the radar. It would be setup and then it would serve the 7" radar over the network.
