Hooking up 1kw: B265LH to Touch2

Hey guys, Can i hook up one of my transducers straight to one of my touch 2's with out using the DFF1-UHD since i think my UHD is shot and they are on backorder. What plug would i need for the back of the touch2 since they are hard wired into my current UHD? Would i still be able to share the charts and gps since they are still networked through the network box?

thanks i'm desperate....

While I understand, simply running a B265LH on a CW type sounder in the TZ Touch 2 is not recommended, the B265LH is a CHIRP style transducer and the TZ Touch 2 has a specific 50 kHz / 200 kHz tuned echosounder. Even if you were to run the B265LH on the TZ2, it would operate the XDR at 50kHz/200kHz and not very good either.

The recommended solution would be to have your DFF1-UHD sent to Furuno USA's service repair center for an evaluation. Otherwise you could use another sounder that supports that transducer.

The networking ability between the two TZ Touches operate outside of transducer installation.

Hope this helps, :sail

So Maggie,
Could i just just use a DFF1 versus using a DFF1-UHD.

Confused, i just pulled the paperwork on the purchase and install and it says My paperwork says they installed a
B175C20-HW 150kHz to 250kHz 20 degree 1KW and a
B175C-20-L 40 kHZ to 60kHz, 20 Degree ,1KW,

when i looked at the transducer set-up on the touch2 it listed 4 different transducers and not the ones i purchased?
1kw:B265LH (THIS ONE WAS CHECKED)
1KW:CM265LH
1kw:B275LHW
1KW:CM275LHW

I am a second owner of the boat so could these 4 transducers listed be previously installed or is it a drop box to choose?

Shouldn't i see one of these that i purchased listed and selected?
B175C20-HW 150kHz to 250kHz 20 degree 1KW and a
B175C-20-L 40 kHZ to 60kHz, 20 Degree ,1KW,

How would i make sure the correct transducers are selected in the Transducer set-up if i don't see them listed?

thanks
Gary

This tells me you had a pair of transducers wired to act as one, so you can run true dual frequency with the dff1-uhd. There's nothing wrong with that, and actually it can help you in this situation.

Wire the B175L to one of your TZTouch 2's.
This next step is very important.
On THAT TZT2, you must ONLY run single frequency, LF. It will fire at only 50khz, and you will not be able to use any special features with it, but you'll have a functioning low Q transducer that is more than capable of running at a constant 50khz.

Wire the B175HW to your other TZTouch 2.
This next step is very important
On THAT TZT2, you must only run single frequency HF. It will fire only at 200khz, and you will not be able to use any special features with it, but you'll have a functioning low Q transducer that is more than capable of running at a constant 200khz.

You will not be able to view a true dual frequency mode, but you should be able to split the screen on a single TZT2, and make the left side viewing the sounder of the TZT2 with the 175L, and the right side viewing the sounder of the TZT2 with the 175HW.

You can then use the other TZT2 to display your charting and radar, or whatever it is you want to display.

Mattology you rock!

just a couple more ?'s and i'm going to dive in.

This will really help me since I am sending the DFF1-UHD in for possible repair to Furuno and was just looking for short term.

Do you know what furuno pigtail i need to purchase to put on the end of the transducer cables. They currently are hard wired inside the DFF1-UHD. Any secrets to making the connections?

So let's see if i am clear.

Unplug/unwire the two transducers from the DFF1-uhd and put pigtail connectors on both Transducer cables and plug each cable directly into a TZT2. Go to transducer set-up and fine the transducers. Run the L transducer on LF and the HW on High frequency.

Leave the NXT radar pluged into network.
Do i leave the TZT2's both plugged into network, or remove the cat cable they are using that goes to the hub?

thanks gary?

I do not know the pigtail part number, I am sorry. For a lot of those part numbers I contact Gil at Semperfifishing on THT. As far as making the connections, I would either use marine grade crimps with heat shrink, or use solder with a proper flux and heat shrink connections. Make sure there is no corrosion and that the wire is cleaned before soldering, properly tinned, and correct flux is use. I would recommend using 40/60 solder as it is a little stronger than 60/40 with the tradeoff that it requires a little hottter soldering iron to melt it properly.

Yes, but you will likely not see selections for B175 in the TZT2 settings, since they are chirp transducers and the TZT2 does not have chirp.

I would probably choose the transducer 526-TID-HDD under transducer selection for each tzt2, but run only LF on one, and only HF on the other one. This is the B260 in furuno nomenclature. Your B175's are not internally diplexed, so you could potentially permanently damage and ruin them if you attempt to run them on dual frequenecy or the incorrect frequency.

The 526-TID-HDD has accu fish, bottom discrimination, and rezboost. I would disable all of that as well. Bottom discrimination requires dual frequency so it will potentially damage your transducer also.

Another transducer to try is the 556-TID-LTD. This is a 1kw B164 in furuno naming. It doesn't have any of the special features, so as long as you run single frequency, your 175's will be fine.

Yes leave the NXT plugged in. Yes leave the TZT2's networked to each other. That will all be fine, and actually be required if you want to view two sounders ( lf and hf) on the same MFD, while keeping the other MFD open for chartplotter and radar.
