Help on an old Furuno Radar

I have this old Furuno Radar and wanted to see if there are any upgraded screens I could purchase. This small screen is difficult to read while underway. I would love t get a 7" LED/ LCD Screen to make life easier. I realize that it is an older model, but i'm not looking to change functionality, simply display size. Thank you in advance!

You might want to consider the 1623 as a replacement and reuse the scanner cable to make your life easy. The color code of the cable is different but the pin out is the same and makes for an easy upgrade.

Thank you for the rapid reply. The 1623 is a 6" screen. Did Furuno make a larger screen (7" - 9") compatible with my 1621 unit?

My other thought is upgrading to something more modern, but I hate to spend another $2000- $3000. Thoughts?

Yes, you could go with the 1715 and still use the same cable. Beyond that, the cable run would need to be replaced with one matching the radar being installed.

Will I need to install a new dome with the 1715, or be able to use the old dome and cable from my current 1621?

Apologies for my ignorance. Marine electronics is a new game for me.

Yes both the dome and display would have to be replaced (using the old cable). There is no electronic compatibility between the older 1621 and the 1715.
