Heading / overlay

Ok so I spent a good part of Tuesday playing with it.
Got it close but still not 100%

If I plug in my original 10.4 ccfl from 2006 the map matches the radar.

I have done the radar optimizer as per the other threads. my old unit has the timing set at 180 manual on a Normal beam

The two newer units I have installed now don’t like those setting at all

If I zoom in on a icw marker on overlay its off by about 3 degrees map vs radar but when in just radar mode with head up the marker and bow line up

The map does have a bit of an offset so my tracks are in my lagoon not the land. Would the offset also move the markers on the map as well or they stay it’s just the land that moves?

I know that nothing is perfect but with the older on it’s very close..

Wish there was a way to transfer those setting

Any ideas?
Thanks

The chart offset does move the whole map including the navigation aids. The older systems' charts, like on the NAVnet vx2, can show objects in a slightly different place on the map if you zoom in too close. If you try different zoom levels you may find that it lines up better at a higher scale. The newer, more computer like systems, tend not to do that. The main two things that affect radar/chart plotter overlay are compass heading and/or radar heading alignment being off slightly. To fix that, they would just need to be adjusted. It appears that, in your case, that is not the problem. Your chart offset is most likely the problem, but it could also be the map scale that it's set to.

Are both of your displays running the same version of software? Would you check and let me know? Go to Menu-System Configuration-System Setup-Test & Clear-Memory I/O Test-Display Unit Test and provide the full program numbers, please.

Thank you for the pics. You have the final version, so that's good. Must be one of the other things I mentioned...possibly the chart offset. Only other thing I thought of is that the heading is coming in to the unit with the radar and that HDG and/or HDT is not turned on for output in any port (especially the output through network settings).

If GPS is connected to radar display, only leave GGA, VTG and ZDA turned on in Output Through Network. Slave display should not have any outputs turned on. Port 2 on radar display if outputting to VHF radio and/or autopilot, then should have APB, GGA, RMB, RMC, VTG and ZDA turned on. If using Port 2 on radar display for AIS input, then no outputs should be turned on. All other ports on both displays shouldn't have any outputs turned on (unless specifically connected to another non-NAVnet device. This is not usually the case).

Ok I will change that and go for a ride once it gets nice out.. will report back

Thank you again
