GP1971F Ver 4 Upgrade Out Of Water

Any downside to performing the upgrade while of of the water, with my engine off? From what I'm told, the process takes about 10-15 minutes. My plan is to disable the sonar, and perform the upgrade while my boat is on my trailer. I have to complete some other maintenance items hence the need to be out of the water. I have two new batteries, so I'm rather confident I'll have enough battery power to complete the upgrade. Thanks.

I upgraded mine with wifi staying at the port and no problem at all. But it is a slow process, allow at least twenty minutes or more, do not switch off the unit in the middle of the process, or you can go into troubles.

Un saludo,
Pablo

FWIW,

Most firmware or "OS" type updates will not, as a function of their programming, activate the sounder. It may upgrade the software supporting the sounder, but no transmissions occur from the transducer when an OS update occurs. Thus it's safe to upgrade it in the boat, out of the boat, motors running or not.

Update via SDCard is very zippy, should wifi be unresponsive or slow. :geek:

Hope this helps, :sail
