Gp1971f sonar won't stay at zoomed out range

I like to zoom out my sonar to look for the 2nd return as it can help find hard bottom. It was easy on my fcv-585. However, if I do this on my new gp1971f, it will only stay there for about 3 seconds. I have turned off every sort of auto range, marker zoom, etc. that I can find, but nothing seems to help. Is it possible to zoom the range out to over twice the depth and have it stay there?

Sonofagunn,
Try going into the System menu, then find the sounder menu. At the bottom of the sounder menu you will find restore default settings. Try resetting to see if that helps.

Resetting it worked temporarily - until I selected the correct transducer. I have a B60, 12 degree, and when I select the 525-LTD... (B60-12) the zoom will auto zoom even if I turn auto zoom off and manually try to set a range or zoom on the bottom. If I select a generic 600w 50/200 the zoom works as expected. But will I lose rezboost and bottom discrimination by selecting a generic transducer? I wasn't in water deep enough to test.
