GP1971F Overlay

If I buy a SCX20 I can just drop it onto my NMEA 2000 backbone and it will work with my GP1971F, GP33 and Nav Pilot 300. Can I mount next to the wireless radar on the arch, and it not interfere ?

Hi Jrthompson,

Yes, you can drop the SCX20 into your backbone and depending on the data you were looking for exactly, it will feed data to your GP33 and Navpilot 300. I would not recommend having the SCX20 on the same radar plain. Recommendation would be to have it above the radar. If you can provide us some pictures of your boat, we might be able to help with recommending a good mounting location for the SCX20.

Agreed, you want to keep the SCX20 outside of the radar beam. Either above or below it. If in the radar beam the radar will be blasting it and it will take a toll sooner or later.

This is a 1989 Tollycraft Sport sedan. The place I can see to mount it is the radar arch, think it will be in the way.

If it were mine, I would buy the pole mount kit and put it on the arch with a pole similar as your GPS has been done. The GPS on the port side and the SCX20 on the Starboard side. Another location that would look nice would be outside right in front of the helm windows on the deck near where it ramps up to the windows, right dead center beam.

Thanks foe your input, I only have 2" from the Radar to the bottom of the shed. the GPS already hits and I have to put it down every time, Have already order a GPA-017 that is shorter. The forward location is a great idea.

Have a GP1971F plotter and I am looking for a Transducer, was going to install a 525T-LTD12, but would like to get one that would drop onto the NMEA 2000 network. I will be installing a GP1871F in the lower station and only have room for one more transducer

A NMEA 2000 smart depth sensor won't allow you to see bottom contours or use the internal sounder of the GP1971F. It will allow you to have digital depth and temp. Are you wanting the smart sensor to go along with the sounder transducer or instead of it? If you get it instead just know the sounder functions for the GP1971F can not be used without a normal transducer connected. If you go on our website (www.FurunoUSA.com) select "Discover Products" then "Browse all products" it will show all the items. Scroll down to transducers and you will see a "smart transducers" option. This will show you smart transducer options which also include NMEA 2000 models.
