GP1971F Malfunction After Reboot

Hi! I have a brand new GP1971F + TM185M.

I connected it to Wifi and it upgraded to V5.10 (January 2023). I don't know why it did not upgraded to V5.3 (June 2024).

After setting up everything I started using my Furuno first time. The device run a few hours and I turned it off for like a short while maybe 10 minutes.
Then I turned it on. It was showing nothing in fish finder and the transducer selection was gone - normally it auto detecs-, the voltage was not displayed and sometimes the touch screen was not working. Even if I chose the correct transducer manually, it did not work. I turned it off and on a few times and restored to factory settings. It did not help.

I turned it off and after 15-20 mins I started the device again. Everything was fine.
The same issue happened again today and it resolved in the same way.

So,
  1. Is it possible that this issue is related to V5.10? I didn't try prior versions.
  2. In manual, wire installation schema there is a drain/shield wire indicated and it is mentioned that it should be connected to ship's ground. I don't know if the issue is related to this but just to give more context, I have connected it to the bottom of fiber boat, it is in touch with salt water. Should I connect it to the battery's negative pole instead?
  3. Shall I download V5.3 to SD card and upgrade the firmware?
Thanks

1. I definitely recommend updating to the latest version of software. A brand-new unit should have been at v5.3 already because we update them here before they get shipped. https://v1.furunosoftware.com/location/kiss/GP-1871F_1971F_5.3.0R.zip

2. Connect the shield/drain wire along with the black wire to the neg side of the battery buss if there is no ground plate on the hull.

3. Yes, download and use a 2, 4, or 8 GB micro SD card to update the software.

Hi,
I have applied all steps you mentioned. The problem continues. If I restart the device after using a while, it does not operate correctly. It does not recognize transducer and does not show current voltage etc. We tried it with different power source and transducer, same. So it is certain that the problem is related to 1971f itself. Everything becomes normal if I wait at least 15 minutes while device is turned off.

I don't know what else to do or try. The device is bought from https://www.thegpsstore.com/ on 9/20/2024 when I was in USA. I am now in Turkey. Its initial firmware was V5.10.

Is the device under warranty globally?
Is there still things I could try?

I have tried resetting to factory settings. Saved points are not deleted though - no SD card is inserted.
