GP1971F & FCV585

Hello Furuno Forum,
Hoping you can assist, currently running FCV585 with P66 transducer and looking to add GP-1971F, replacing an old NON Furuno chartplotter, two questions;
- Can I connect the FCV585 to the GP1971F, allowing me to sound on the 585 and mark ground, with the waypoint appearing on the GP1971F maps?
- Am iI complicating things and the GP1971F with P66 will offer same or better sounding?

If you wire up 0183 between the two devices, the GP1971F can receive depth/temp and TLL (target lat/lon) from your FCV585. While you can get marks and digital data, you will never be able to see soundings on the GP1971F without it having its's own transducer.
