Hello, I'm looking for a documentation of the "mirror control" function. This is not documented in the manual...

The trick comes down to the device you're using. To do mirroring with the GP1971F/1871F requires a device that can make it's own hotspot and this app (iOS App Store link). For example, an iPad sold by any of the major mobile carriers with a 4g modem have this ability, some of the older wifi-only ipads or ipod touches cannot make a hotspot.

The recommendation is to pick up a device that can share it's internet, once you create the hotspot on the tablet or phone and connect the GP to that hotspot - the mirroring app on the device should work no problem.

Hope this clarifies, :sail

Even when offshore, with no signal?!

With no bars, not in airplane mode, yes it works. This is because it does not require any external server to operate, outside what it takes to get the app from the appstore. Your phone is the client providing a wireless connection to facilitate the GP1971F as the server. The GP1971F's network card cannot, on it's own, generate a LAN like it's TZTouch1/2/3 MFD cousins so it requires a phone (with or without service) to do that.
