My install of my Furuno equipment see a fairs amount of engine/alternator noise in the fishfinder (TZT3). Throttle increases...more noise. Close to unuseable at cruise. Engine is a Volvo D340.

I emailed Furuno for support...received a quick reply giving me troubleshooting steps. Each back and forth email was answered quickly which hopefully is solving the problem. Next step will be installing a capacitor just after the alternator....hope it works.

I gotta say Furuno support it more than likely the best in the business.

Thanks for the feedback. During times of peak season, I do believe our staff is easier to reach and work with than most, while being more technical. No one here is blindly using simple flow charts to work from, because troubleshooting needs to be fluid with all the variables. Hopefully you can get to the bottom of the noise problem. I will agree the alternator (bad brushes) is a very common source of noise on boats. Beware of LED lighting also. We have seen LED lighting so bad that it will jam your GPS signal.
