Anyone know the cable specs coming out from the Transducer unit that need to be terminated to the Pre-amp mounted on the hull unit?

I think the overall diameter is about 1" as it fits thru an HP-18N cable support and consists of 12 discrete conductors bundled inside

I assume that each conductor is a Shielded Twisted Pair (i.e. 3 connection points, 2 for the pair and 1 for the shield), can anyone supply info on the wire gauge in the pair, diameter, voltage rating for IR, signal transmission frequency etc. Furuno is pretty tight lipped on this as they are about current pricing

apjohnston777,
The cables coming out of the transducer aren't replaceable. Do you need to extend them?
I know there is a kit for extending the 8L transducer cables and I can check to see if one is available for the 5L.

Yes, I know they are not replaecable (most likely potted into the Transducer housing), the kit for the 5L should be identacle to that for the 8L. I just need more specifics on the actual cable assemble itself (O/All Diameter, internal make up (12 * 12awg TSP?) as the apllication I am looking at requires routing through a linear or rotary electrical slip ring (ring for the rotary, ?? for the linear). I would be very interested in getting some technical specs for the extension kit.

Apjohnston777,
In checking with Japan it turns out they receive the cable from the manufacture with just the color code and pin out. Then they proceed to mold the cable into the transducer housing. I understand this is not the information you were looking for, sorry.

Are there any installers who might be able to help out? I Sent a technical request to Furuno in Japan and they referred me to the US help line who never responded. So what would be the best way to get info on the subject?

apjohnston777,
The info received from Japan is that the transducer cable should not be extended. This means that there is not a cable extension kit for the 5L like the 8L. Below is the wiring pin out for one of the twelve transducer cables. Looking at this you probably can conclude that the transducer cable is not made up of individual twisted shielded pair wire for each element.

Snips, Page 2-3 of the CSH 5L installation manual shows 12 discrete cables??

apjohnston777,
As I mentioned, this is the cable pin out for one of the twelve cables. The other eleven are the same configuration.
