Furuno 7000 lost position

I have an older model furuno 7000 chart plotter. Recently it lost the position and the plotter will no longer track the boat’s movements. I took the antenna wire out cleaned it and made sure it was securely plugged in. This has worked in the past.

Now it will not pick up the boats position. When I first turn it on it says the antenna and gps are working but it still does not find the position.

I tried resetting the gps in the input/output menu to no avail.

Does anyone know how to correct this?

I am figuring it’s time to upgrade but in the mean time this plotter has several years of waypoints that are needed for fishing.

Any help would be appreciated!

What is the HDOP reading when you check the SAT view? It sounds like an antenna issue where the sensitivity is gone. We see this whenever the antenna is in the radar beam or too close to another strong RF source like VHF/AIS. While it could be an internal unit problem, I think the odds are the antenna. You could try any Furuno coxal GPS antenna maybe on a friends boat just for testing. If your HDOP is more than 2.5, the antenna front in amp is most likely gone.
