File Copy Error Updating to V2

Image5.jpgImage4.jpgImage3.jpgI got this error while attempting to update my TZT19F to v2:

It appears frozen at that point. The OK button doesn't work and nothing seems to be happening. I pulled the power and restarted. Luckily it still boots to the old version.

The 4GB thumbdrive was freshly formatted FAT32 and the files from the zipped directory were copied to it (CopyItem, FEC, autoupdateconfig.txt, chartdemopath.txt, IDCODE.SYS, MANUAL.BIN & QB_FORCE_EXIT). It was 50% full with all the files copied. I reformatted and recopied the files but got the same result. I tried a different thumbdrive but got the same result. The 2nd one was 32GB.

I don't know where to find the log. It wasn't on the thumbdrive.

I've added photos of the other messages that came up and disappeared.
The file listed when progress stopped (SDUS01MET05.dbm) is present on the thumbdrive.

Any help will be appreciated.

I have saw similar errors if someone had been running beta software prior or had attempted a software update prior and not completed it. The update takes roughly 30 mins and should never be interrupted. I would recommend that the software be downloaded with good internet and not wifi. You want to make sure your software is not corrupted by poor wifi or other problems. Run the full process regardless of errors and then factory clear the sounder (hardware reset) and factory clear the display. After that, run the self test and verify you have v2.01 software and that everything is working. If worried about your update USB, pre-tested update kits can be ordered from your dealer. These systems are pretty tolerant so if you start from the very beginning and let it run through without touching it (regardless of what errors you might note) it should finish up fine.

I updated 2 displays on my boat. The first one I put the drive in and walked away to do some other things came back about 15 mins later and removed the drive as indicated and I kept rolling with the update. The second one I kinda sat there and watched. It popped up with prompts like I was supposed to acknowledge them, I almost instinctively did but was able to resist the urge. The system acknowledge them on it's own. And like Johnny said, about 30 mins later it was complete. I guess another possible suggestion if not already tried would be to do a factory reset on the display prior to trying the upgrade.

Not touching it for a full hour didn't help. Factory reset and disconnecting it from NMEA2000 and ethernet didn't help either. It times-out and reboots to the old version in the first 5 minutes. The first time I tried it after factory reset the file copy progress bar got to 6% before stalling instead of stalling at 0%. That is interesting because no changes were made to the thumbdrive. I tried the whole thing again (including factory reset) with a third thumbdrive and it stalled at 0%.

I got these TZT19Fs at the end of December 2020 and have not attempted any upgrade before this one. I have contacted my dealer for a pre-loaded thumbdrive.

I had an issue loading on my tz3 , never completed the update. Called Furuno he told me to reinstall update from-a windows computer, it loaded the way it was supposed to. Originally I updated the software from a Mac.

The cause of my upgrade failure was using a USB extension cable instead of connecting the thumbdrive directly to the TZT.

The reason for the extension is to avoid taking the helm apart whenever I need to exchange data with my laptop. Each TZT has its own extension and I have been saving and loading data without problems on both. Each one is 6' long which is well within the USB limit and they are brand-new.
