FCV295 transducer

Getting ready to purchase a FCV295 and thinking of using airmar B175L and a B175H. Any issues with this selection. Fishing mainly in 30 to 300 feet of water. Once in a while go out to the edge. What would be max depth to read bottom 1500 feet ???

Seaactive25,
You can use the 175's with the FCV-295. These are flushed mounted transducers and thus subject to more turbulence issues than using a B-275.

If I went with a through hole transducer I like the R409LWM. But wasn’t sure if the medium frequency would work with the FCV-295, would it work??

Seaactive25,
The FCV-295 is blocked out in three frequency ranges; 53-65, 111-139 and 171-183.
The MF side of the transducer you are looking at is 80-130Khz but I have found is works better around 77Khz. We don't officially have a Tap setting for the LF side of that transducer so until we do I would look at using an "A" Tap for the LF side.

For the FCV-295 using a R109LM use a "B" Tap setting for both LF and HF channels.

Thank you. So currently I have the LHW model which was recommended to me by the dealer. But the high frequency is basically useless to me. I primarily bottom fish in waters 600-1200’ deep. Trying to target fish in the 5-15lb range. My goal was to scan with the LF and Narrow down the area and detail with the HF. Looking at the specs from Airmar the cones for this model is pretty large. So what I’m seeking on the fish finder may not be directly below my boat. It could be up to 400-500’ away. Do you think the LM would fit what I’m trying to do better? Or is there a way to narrow the beam to get closer to the fish using the fish finder and not just luck?
Thanks
