FCV 600 L Speed Indicator Miseries

After just under 20 years of faithful service, my FCV 600 L decided to stop displaying speed & distance a few weeks ago. I love this thing and all my Furuno electronics, so I'd like to see it back in the pink again. The paddle wheel turns very freely, it is detachable and I removed it to check for visible problems but found nothing. Not even dirt. Is there a way to ascertain whether the malfunction is in the transducer or the sounder itself? Or do I have to pull the whole enchilada out and send it in to the factory? BTW: the transducer is a Furuno XOM Multi for dual frequency... :furuno

Catenary Kid,
You could send it in or Is there a local Furuno dealer in your area that you can take it too?

Snips

Send in which part, Snips? Both? And what is the protocol for that?

Thanks.

I would suggest that you first try and find a local dealer who might have a transom mount with paddle wheel in stock. A simple plug in test will show if it is the transducer.
If you want to send it to Furuno we would only need the head unit as we have transducers to test it with.

Send it to:
Furuno USA

Be sure to include your contact info including a phone number/email to reach you and a description of the issue.

Thanks, Melville! I bring the boat home for winter storage this coming weekend. I'll get the head unit off and ship it out to you next week. I'll message you when I shipit.

Thanks again!

Melville,

I got the boat home and the FC600L off of it. I'm sending the head to you for diagnostics, I'll include a letter with symptoms, etc. If it turns out to be the transducer, would it be feasible to contact me (I'll include info) and let me know what my options are and what the pricing would be for them?

Thanks again for the excellent customer service!

Al
