fcv 1100L settings

Just purchased a R299 transducer for a FCV 1100L, in reading the operators manual for the 1100L, it states:

"FREQ CHOICE
You can change the transmitting frequencies for the following transducers. This
function is useful when there is interference from other vessel, or when targeting
certain fish species.
50kHz/75kHz transducer
Using the following transducers with 75 kHz provides high-resolution pictures:
• 50B-6
• 50/200-1T (50kHz)
• 50/200-1ST(50 kHz)
• 50B-9
• 50B-12
Note 1: When using above transducers on 75 kHz the transmission line (zero
line) may be longer than normal.
Note 2: 50 kHz and 75 kHz pictures are displayed on the dual frequency display
with connection of one of the above-mentioned transducers. However,
the actual picture is shown only for the port where the transducer is
connected."

But the specs for the 1100L, says:

"TX frequency 24/28/36/38/41/45/50/55/67/68/82/88/100/107/150/200 kHz,
select 2 channels"

How would I use 75 khz, to get a high res picture? There is no 75 khz listed for the 1100. I'm plannning to use the R299 at 55 khz, since the R299 can only go up to 60 khz. What is the recommended settings? I fish deep drop bottom, in waters up to 1200 feet? I plan to use the 1100 at 3 kw and 55 khz. Is there a bandwidth setting that has to be made? Or what would be a recommended freq and power setting with the 1100 and R299 for deep drop fishing?

Only a few Furuno transducers will resonate at 50/75Khz, the R-299 is made by Airmar. I would set the 1100 for 50 and 200Khz and use a "D" tap on both frequencies. The FCV-1100 doesn't have a bandwidth control. You can try using a shorter pulse length for better discrimination.

So what does all of this stuff mean from the operators manual for the 1100? Operate the 1100 at 75 khz? But the 1100 doesn't have a 75 khz setting, and the ducers listed all resonate at 50 and 200 khz. I'm confused. Wouldn't it be better to operate at a higher freq, so you get a narrow cone angle? I wanted to operate at the freq that has the narrowest cone angle at 3 kw output power. What would you recommend, stay at 50 khz and use the noise limit function to shift the freq?

In the manual mode the FCV-1100 can be set at any frequency from 25-220Khz. The transducer that you listed are transducers manufactured by Furuno. The 50B-6, 50B-9 and 50B-12 have a primary resonate point at 50Khz and a secondary point at 75Khz. While they can be used at 75Khz I don't recommend it. The other two are combination 50 & 200 transducers that work best using those frequencies. At this point I would set the 1100 for 50 and 200 to see how the sounder works at deeper depths. I am concerned about the signal attenuation with the wet box installation.
