FAP-7002 relays connection

While reading the installation manual for the Navpilot 700 series, there is little information regarding the use of the connections labeled TB4. In the pictorial description of section 2.2.1, it mentions its use for "General OUT (external buzzer, etc.)" and later in section 2.2.9 briefly describes its use as contact relay output. The question is:

When are these outputs triggered? It seems to be a NO and a NC outputs; when are these outputs changing state?

Are TB4 and TB2 correlated?

Many thanks in advance.

To support my question, I thought it would be handy to place in here the connections of the processing unit. Pic is from the manual and the copyright belongs to Furuno.

The connection TB4 is described as:
"TB4 is for contact relay output. The No. 1 line is Normal Open, and the No. 3 line is Normal Close. For Active Close, use Normal Open; for Active Open use Normal Close. The rated current of the contact is 3A. The maximum acceptable open-close is 50VA."

Furthermore, the connections are a bit more detailed at the interconnection Diagram

However, it is not yet clear to me how this port is driven.

I am guessing that the port will drive the coil of an external relay (since the max contact is 3A) if high power is required?
Has anyone wired this port? What events trigger the NO and NC terminals of Out1 or Out2?

That input is used for the Safe helm feature (Using FPS8) but those input/output ports have been used for many other purposes. There are software settings explained the manual (Para 7.8) that will determine when the output state changes for TB4 (out1 and out2). For example, if you set the software configuration for the general out to "AP Enable", the state of the output will change every time the pilot is engaged/enabled (in Auto or Nav). This is useful for some to build custom handshaking with Jet drive systems or custom clutch systems. If you were to say set the software to "Port arrow key" then the output status will change anytime someone hits the port arrow key. There is a lot of flexibility and power in the General in/out ports.

Hi, sorry, I missed this post. Didn't receive an email from the system...
thank you for the fantastic explanation, I'll check the manual section that you point out to.
Ironically, I was checking the installation manual throughout but not the user manual.

Best, Adam
