FA-70 Pre Wire

Pthein

Hello

I am working on doing some pre wiring in anticipation of the release of the FA70 AIS unit. I have 2 questions:

1. Brochure on the furuno.com website mentions 2 gps antenna's, GPA-017S or GPA-C01. Whats the difference in those 2 antennas?

2. If I have a dedicated VHF whip antenna installed can I just wire the coax IN to the FA-70 and disregard the splitter output? Or will that cause some sort of imbalance etc?

Thanks

Phil

Well, also interested in the answers.....

I got my FA70 today, the manual seems to be very fast written, some questions remain unanswered or need "thinking" togehter with the context (Setup)

What exatctly is the difference between NMEA1 and NEMA2?

And in chapter 1.6 (VHF antenna) showns MP5 connectors, but the unit is equipped with standard pl-259....

Good afternoon PThein,

Thank you for you inquiry.

The GPA017S is a small GPS antenna that comes with a .5 meter cable with TNC connector. The GPA01C is uses the same small GPS antenna but comes with a 10m cable with 10 TNC connector.

Because this is a new unit, I cannot tell you what GPS antenna will be standard supply.

We also do not have access to the installation manual yet so I cannot comment on best installation practices.

In my package was the c01

I will most likely use an dedicated vhf antenna and not using the internal splitter. Perhaps I can test that the coming weekend and report
