Exernal KP for TZT 3 Sounder

Is there any more news on the availability of an external KP for the TZT 3 internal sounder that would eliminate the interference with the DFF-3D due to the overlap of the HF CHIRP band with the 165Hz of the DFF-3D?

I recall that Furuno was going to make a cable available.

Thank you for your inquiry.

My understanding that when the fish finder source is set to TZT, DFF1, BBDS1 the menu item is not available to turn on KP Sync. That is referenced in the Installation manual for the TZT16f.

Looking at the interconnect diagram, I do not see a KP interface directly on the TZT16f. The External KP interface can be found on the DI-FFAMP, DFF3, DFF1-UHD interface diagram.

Which leads me to believe that the internal sounder cannot be KP synced.

I am aware of that reference in the manual. This came up early in the summer when as one of the first customers to have a DFF-3D and a TZT 3 internal sounder operating at HF, I noticed significant interference. The filter cleans it up reasonably well but not completely.

If you look at the wiring diagrams in the installation manual, the pin assignments for the cable from the DI-FFAMP, which plugs into the transducer port of the TZT 3, include KPI signals. From the comments I received from your colleagues in the summer, I was given the impression that the current limitation might be a software issue.

Thank you for inquiry. Yep understood, I have sent the request to R&D for further info. I will let you know if what I find out. The DI-FFAMP port does use a KP, output we will need to study to see if that circuit could be used for a separate application and if it could trigger anything other than DI-AMP.

Good morning Quitsa,

I have a little more information. You are well informed my friend, it does sound like R&D is working on a solution to help provide a KP sync using the TZT3 internal sounder, it will require a software update and also a TZT3 KP sync kit. I have not been told officially when it will be available but it sounds like the software side may be available with V2 when that gets released, we will keep our fingers crossed. It will still require a hardware solution, but hopefully will have something available in the near future.
