We have 2 ECDIS units on board the comercial ship, ie the Furuno FMD-3300 with the MU-270W monitors.
Happened that one of the servicemen was killing the flies on the bridge with electric racket and accidentally used it next to the monitor, which consequently caused one part of the monitor become dim - unbelivable but true.
Now we have one "old but still good" monitor MU-270W which was used on Radar Furuno. We have tried to replace it with faulty ECDIS monitor. Happens that we have lost control over the brilliance of the monitor. We are able to change from day / dusk / night mode, but the brilliance scroll button on ECDIS has no effect on the brilliance itself.
Presently we are on trans-oceanic passage and still some days to reach the Port for good Furuno attendance and using the ECDIS fully bright by night is not so nice.
Anybody with some hint how to setup the system ?
