Easiest way to remove array for towing?

Curious to get what other guys are doing when towing with their Furuno open arrays.

Leaving it installed is obviously the easiest option but it open you up to damage from low branches etc.

Taking it off is a pain compared to my previous Garmin as the Furuno requires sealant for the install. Making it more of a semi permanent rather than a bolt on part. I wish there was some sort of gasket we could just use? The four bolts are easy enough to pop out its the sealant part that makes it messy and tedious. Getting it off and
then resealing to put it back on.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Can't agree more and if someone has a proven method that works it would be interesting to hear. No one beats the Furuno radar, so it is worth the extra effort... but it is an effort. I have been pushing development to do better in future designs. Currently the array should be sealed where you see sealant squish out all 360. If you see a crack it isn't good enough. Water will sit in that crack and get under the paint from the top of the gearbox. This is also why the manual also has you cover the bolts after mounting, so that water doesn't get into the paint scratches from where the bolt cuts into it. A good sealing job is important but the point is well made. Design can be done better to make it more removable for those cases you mention.

I haven't heard of any better options but it doesn't mean someone hasn't come up with one. At this time, it is what it is I think, but the effort is worth it in the long run. I will share this with our development folks who have been doing a much better job of listening, as we have seen a lot of progress from NN1/Vx2 to where we are now with XL. A mindset of continual improvement is never a bad thing.
