DRS6AX/4 Main Bang Suppression Adjustment

I have a Furuno DRS6AX/4, and close targets, maybe 25-40 yards away, sometimes don't show up. Concerning with pilings in channels at night.

Can the Main Bang Suppression setting be adjusted to help close-up targets show up more? If so, higher or lower (my scale is 0-100)? Any thoughts on a good default value?
 
Many use 20 to 24 for main bang suppression. The larger the suppression the less you see because it is being covered up. I either don't use suppression or adjust it only as high as needed to cover the bulk of it and no more. If you have objects near the radar causing RF reflections that can be a real problem what you seen near the boat.
