Gillaroo,
What’s important is that the Dome/Assy (or the Gearbox in the case of an Open Array System) be securely mounted and have a clear and unobstructed view of the horizon in all directions, with the emitted radar beam above the operator.
The Dome/Assy must be installed within a horizontal plane, and parallel to the water so when the vessel is running on a speed/plane angle for optimized performance. So, this could mean raising the rear of the Dome/Assy by some 3 or 4 degrees so that it appears to be “looking” down while the boat is at rest but will be horizontal when running at speed.
