First time using the dff3d and couldn't get the center beam to act right, what is the problem here? I saw everything to the left and right, and the depth is way off we were in 1000+ feet. had the auto bottom find off and other settings correct as far as I know

Cabo92,

What you are seeing is the DFF3D experiencing noise. I would ensure that you have a good clean earth ground connected to the DFF3D's Earth Grounding Stud, and then follow the DFF3D Transducer Wiring Instructions that I have attached below.

Update: my installer found the ducer cable not shielded as instructed in the install manual. He made the correction, I haven't been able to test it yet but hopefully fixed the problem

Update I used the boat after installer shielded the wiring, I still have a faint noise cone straight down, so the sonar has seemed to improve but not completely clear like the port and stb beams. What else should I do to correct?

If you've made sure the grounding is correct and still getting that beam, it could be getting interference from something else. What I would do dockside is leave the cross section screen on and shut down everything at the breaker level. If your screen looks good then turn on one breaker at a time and see if anything triggers it to pop up, then start to power on everything else one by one.

Also, if you have an picture of the grounding under the clamp (the second to last picture on the PDF) we could help make sure it's been done correctly
