DFF3D 250 Meter Fishing

Hi

I am a fisherman in southern Brazil and we fish mainly in depths up to 250 meters. I am looking for a larger beam width sonar to complement my current set, Garmin GSD26 and R509LH. Will DFF3D work well at this depth? The photo below is a large school of Yellotail / Kingfish.

Mamasso,
Your screen shot indicates you have are using the low frequency on the GSD-26.
You are also using the 509LH which is 3kw when using the LF side.

My question back to you is how well does your high frequency work in detecting these fish?

Is the high frequency elements in the R509LH 3kw and R599LH the same as the high frequency elements in a b265lh or m265lh? Are you saying the only actual 3kw elements are in the low element?

Talin strange,
The information I have is that the 509/599LH are 3/2kw. The 509/599LHW are 3/1kw. The HF side on the 509/599 is different from what the 265 uses. As far as I know the only common element used is the HF wide, it is used in the 275, 109/111 and 509/599.

Snips, thanks for the feedback.
Regarding your question, I have never used my high CHIRP set at this depth, precisely because the low CHIRP is more suitable. I have friends who use medium CHIRP with the TM185-CM at 130 meters and the target separation is not very good.
My intention is to use DFF3D to detect the shoals, mark the waypoint and pass over it with the R509LH to try to identify the species. If he's capable of this detection up to 250 meters, then I'll have the equipment I'm looking for.

Mamasso,
If you are just interesting in mapping the seabed at 250m you will be OK. See the screen shot I just posted for Stretch89 this morning.
