DFF3 and Airmar R599 LM Settings

Since updating electronics 3 years ago and going to the DFF3 I have been on the fence regarding updating my R199 transducer that was original to the boat. Finally decided to make the move the R599LM transducer. I am hoping the Medium freq and slightly wider cone is beneficial as well as the higher power at L frequency.

From what I have read the R599 LM is a great compliment to the B175HW which I already have connected to a DFF1UHD.

I would like to make the appropriate adjustments now as I finish my install (5200 takes a while to fully cure) to the DFF3 settings so that when I power up the unit I am as close to dialed as possible. There is a great deal of knowledge on this forum so any pro tips would be greatly appreciated. First off my current tap settings is B and B. I have seen conflicting information online regarding correct settings for the R599LM. I would like to make sure I am giving the transducer full power.

3kw L
2kw M

Any pro tips on Transmit Rate, TVG, Gain offset, picture advance is currently at 1/1.

Since the DFF3 was previously connected to a R199 do I need to do a master reset using dip switch 8?

Thanks,

Omega,
Use a "B" tap setting for both channels. I would use a TX Rate of 20 and a 1/1 screen advance.
Hard to say use X for TVG and Y for gain offset. You probably will find that the 599 will perform a little better on the lower end of its frequency spectrum.

Snips,

Thank you. I understand Gain and TVG will depend on water conditions. Will adjust accordingly.

I plan to start at:
-Low of 28khz or 38khz
-Medium I was advised 78khz but the specs say the frequency range is 80 to 130?

Should I have the freq adjust set to anything other than 0? How about Bandwidth?

Thank you for the pro tips.

Best,

Omega,
Snips is off for Thanksgiving. The Band Width control is how far you can adjust a frequency.
The default setting is 10% of the frequency you enter i.e. if you enter 50Khz and the BW will be 5Khz, so you could adjust the frequency +/-2.5khz (47.5-52.5Khz). The maximum BW setting is 50%, so 37.5-62.5Khz for a center frequency of 50Khz.

I was able to get the boat out for a quick test after work last week and am very happy with the results. The LM is a great compliment to my B175HW and I can't wait to start using them.

Thanks for all the help.
