I just installed a scx20. How do I get the DFF1 to utilize the heaving compensation from the scx20?

So are you using the titled DFF1 or the TZT2 internal sounder as your fish finder?

DFF1. It is my understanding the internal sounder has no ability to utilize the heaving information. So I’m using the DFF1.
Both tzt2 and DFF1 have current software

That is correct the TZT2 internal sounder can not conduct heaving compensation like the TZT3 can. The external DFF1 can. Ensure you have the DFF1 selected as your sounder source under fish finder. If you don't see a heaving control setting under fish finder to turn ON; it is automatic. The DFF1 has supported heaving compensation for a very long time.

Ok. I could not find anything to select so I will assume it’s automatic. I did see pitch and roll as a selection for scx20 data source but nothing for heaving.

Yes, I thought so. The DFF1 and DFF3 both were automatic but do support it.

One more question. Do I have to turn on the heaving PGN 65280 to get the heaving information into the DFF1?

Yes, you have to select the NMEA2000 Sentence 065280 for Heaving. If it's not selected then the TZT2 will not utilize it and send it over the network to the DFF1.
