Hey guys,
New to Furuno and the forum. I'm excited to be making the switch to Furuno. I have a couple questions about the Furuno TZTL12F. I am ordering the unit today for my Dusky 278 and adding the radar as well.
My questions are:
1. Which 1KW transducer should I get for trolling and bottom fishing in SC, Fl,and the Bahamas up to 1500' using the internal sonar in the MFD? We bottom fish 150-250' deep and then deep drop as much as possible in the Bahamas and Florida. Usually 600'-1500'

2. Will the MCU002 control and work with the TZTL12F? I am hoping to be able to control the unit without the touch screen when its rough offshore and wet.

Thanks in advance! I am very much excited about switching to Furuno :furuno

Thanks for your inquiry AQ,

In regards to your questions:
For choosing a transducer, I would recommend taking a look at the 556TID-HDD which is a 10-Pin 1kW Bronze Thru-Hull Transducer with Temp, along with built-in Diplexer and Hi-Speed Fairing Block. It should give you plenty of depth, along with the Bottom Discrimination capability for use in shallower waters up to 320'.

In choosing a Controller, you can use the MCU002 TZT CONTROLLER UNIT with your TZTL12F. Unfortunately, it does not have any "Edge Swipe" capability that gets you access to the TZTL12F's graphic interface. If you can choose the MCU004 Controller, you would better served, as it was designed specifically for the TZTouch2.

Hope this helps..? :)

Hey Deep Blue, is 556TID-HDD also considered to give great bang for the buck value? If so, I think it would be perfect for me too.

It is best to Start your own topic to make sure you get the best response.

The 556TID-HDD is a great transducer and offers a great value for the money. what type of the fishing are you doing and what what will this be installed on?
Thank you
