I have an older RDP-149 display with Naionics Gold. I have the opportunity to replace it with a newer (better shape) unit. Diference being the newer unit is or has C-Map NTMAX on the SD card door. Are these units interchangeable? will I have problems unplugging the old one and plugging in the new one?

They can swap out very easy. Of course the c-map unit is going to only read the C-map charts. Operationally after you do the setup it will be like it was before except the C-map software is faster and you can still purchase cards for it.
