hi there
So, i purchased and finally received (no thanks to fedex) my new TZTL-12 and NXT radar.
Beautifully built product.
I have discovered and Jeppesen has confirmed that on Great Lakes and Eastern Canada there are areas where all nav aids are missing. Jeppesen cannot confirm when this will be resolved.
The interesting thing is that Cmap's 4D version shows everything but MAPMEDIA does not support 4D. duhhh
As I sit here with $5K of gear (CAD$7500) that i cannot use, i am wondering if there are other chart formats that the TZTL will use. Navionics? Other?
Any suggestions???? Please????
thanks in advance
herman

Hermank,
First, what area or what great lake is not showing detail? and also what chart setting are you using on your TZT2? (Auto/raster/HOs/fishing)

Also, if you touch on the area that has no detail or navigational aids and then select "chart info" then it should display the chart type, manufacture, and the file name (chart file name)
If you could provide me with at least the chart file name then I can verify as well and see if another chart will display correctly.

Hi DB
thanks but....
As i mentioned in the posing the chart is Great Lakes and Eastern Canada. MM3-VNA-026
I tried all the tricks.
PLEASE NOTE: Paul Wilson of Cmap has confirmed that, on the 3D version compatible with Mapquest, the nav aids are missing on his copy at Cmap. He also confirms that these same nav aids are indeed shown on on his raster chart. I was incorrect when i said that they were on the 4D.
QUOTE.."I confirm it is presently missing off the .38 (fall 2016 and the currently available) chart database in 4D and the MM3D one you purchased." Paul Wilson

So, if they are not on the chart, all the manipulations and clicks in town won't fix it.

Is there any other good chart that will work?
thanks
herman

Herman, C-map has verified they have a problem with the current version of that map area. The prior versions had that information. I have informed the Furuno Technical Service Manager to expect your call. I am sure we can help work some suitable solution for you. Please contact Lantz at our main office 360-834-9300

As an update... Amazing experience. And confirmation of my decision to purchase Furuno. Within 24 hours of identifying that there was missing data on the latest version of Great Lakes and Eastern Canada, the folks at Furuno and Cmap came up with (and I had installed) a great solution. Buying Furuno in Toronto is not easy as there are no stores with gear to mess around with. Plus Furuno is a bit more expensive here. At the end of the day, we need nav gear that works and the folks at Furuno and their partners promptly made sure i had what I needed. Add to that a product that is built to take some punishment and the package becomes complete. BTW, doing my pre-purchase research, i saw older comments about Furuno plotters not being very intuitive or easy to learn. The TZTL fixes all that as well. Thanks folks. :jump
