Chartplotter / GPS refresh speed

I am running Navionics gold 2006, Gulf of Mexico on a NavNet vx2 program # 195002304.01.06 and the refresh on the chartplotter lags about six seconds. If I am moving slow trying to find a wreck in, say, 100' of water using the sounder and GPS functions together the lag is so long that in a slow (4 kt) turn I will overshoot 90 degrees before the unit catches up. I have position smoothing set at 001 and GPS options set at 2d. I have turned off most chart detail. No change. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
 
It sounds like you might be running CU (Course up), you might want to try Auto CU. The refresh happens more often in that mode. Another option would be to have the unit converted to be a C-map unit. C-map programmed Vx2s tend to run faster.
