Changing rudder source data

Sorry for all the recent queries, with the artic cold blast blowing through have time to tweak my nav equipment.

My rudder position is coming from my separate simnet autopilot n2k network. I have a n2k bridge between my simnet and primary n2k networks. I have the rudder PGN being sent from the simnet to primary network which is where all my Furuno equipment resides. I know the rudder PGN is on the primary network as my maretron screens are showing it which are only connected to the primary network.

When I go into the TZTBBX sensor list it sees the n2k gateway device but when I go into the data source menu it’s not giving me the n2k gateway as an option to select. For the rudder the only device showing is a temp/humidity sensor.

Is there anyway to get the TZTBBX to use the n2k gateway device for rudder data?

On the Simnet side, the rudder angle indicator data being generated may not be 100% NMEA2000 certified, As far as the gateway's primary role it is to convert data from one protocol to another, however if the data is proprietary it may not transfer in a format that can be recognized.

Thanks, i ran the N2K log on my TZT2BB (file attached) and it shows PGN 127245 which I believe is the standard PGN for rudder angle. I'm not sure how looking at the n2k log file to tell if the data is in 100% n2k format. The funny thing is the rudder angle shows up on my primary network on maretron displays and they are notorious for not working with non-standard data. Are you able to look and see if its in the correct format?

It seems that isn’t a normal Furuno NMEA2000 log file recording from the MFD or BB. The issue is that likely the Simrad RRU information has been problematic because of Simrad's use of “255” in the data instance which means not available. Have a look at this thread where this issue is covered. https://furunousaforum.com/threads/rd33-not-recognizing-simrad-rudder-angle-pgn.3462/

If you could export a NMEA2000 log file directly from the TZTBBX. You will need a USB stick
Go to HOME=> Settings=> Initial Setup=> Record NMEA2000 Log File and send it over that would be helpful too.

For a very long time there has been an issue with the Simrad PGN where they code the instance to 255. As JJ says, I think there is more than that one post about it. Normally that involves the simrad 2000 rru sensor. It might be that you can have your pilot retransmit the PGN and that one be okay/accepted. Make sure to pick your source in the data source list so that it looks at the right device. If you can't get it working, a recording like he said would be helpful for us to look at the problem deeper.

The file was an actual TXTBB export but the forum wouldn’t let me attach a file with a RPL extension so I cut and pasted the contents into a TXT file. Is there anyway to attach a RPL file?
