Building New Network

Building new network on a 40 express. I can get 3 TZT3 MDF' s and save a good bit of money just having one XL for its new features networked in. What is my downside other than only having the new maps on the XL?

A major consideration is that any time you mix generations you have to be careful with software updates. They will have specific versions that match. Eventually you may have to stop updating the XL unless the TZT3s are removed once they reach end of life.

XL supports a few more third party apps than TZT3 does. XL has support for the CSH10 sonar. Other than that, not a lot but software is still developing on XL when TZT3 will have some more software updates coming but no larger changes.
