Bottom discrimination not staying on

I have a TZT2 connected to DFF1 - UHD running an R509 LHW and when I switch on bottom discrimination it only comes on briefly then switches off. Is there some setting I need to change?

Pleiades,
The R509LHW is not in the UHD's data base for Bottom Discrimination. You could try disconnecting the Orange TID wire to see if you could access the BD mode, however since the transducer has a wide HF beam there is no telling how well it will work.

Pleiades,
The DFF3D doesn't have a Bottom Discrimination mode.

Thanks Snips, disconnected the orange but that didn’t work also notice accufish doesn’t work either. Although the dealer sold the unit with R509 it appears it is not exactly compatible.

Pleiades,
The Bottom Discrimination and ACCU-FISH modes in the DFF1-UHD are were designed around using the 265 transducer. Concern other Chirp transducers can be used but those modes won't be available. Depending on the SW version of the UHD you could manually set the system up for a B-265 and you would have access but the BD and AF information won't be accurate.

Thanks I will try that. Do I have to disconnect the orange wire again? The R509 is smashing depths of 4000ft so I shouldn’t complain too much.

Pleiades,
If you are using the 509 the Orange (TID) wire should not be connected.
