Few questions on the 588. First post and I appreciate the help!

I can’t seem to get a double/second echo in DEMO mode even after setting range 2.5x demo mode depth. Ex: demo mode depth 160’ - I set range to 400’ and increase gain, eventually to to 10. I would expect to see the second echo at 320’.

Does anybody know the transducer used for demo mode?

Main interest is hard bottom detection. Any key settings specifically for viewing bottom tails?

Rjmurphy4142,

The transducer that was used for the FCV588 Demo was the 526TID-HDD.

- Deep Blue - :)

Great news. It should be very similar to my SS264N.

Still a little curious why I can’t get a second echo in demo mode.

Thanks for the response,

Ryan.

Because the recorded demo didn't have it recorded; you can't show it. What isn't there in the built in DEMO recording; isn't there to play with.

Maybe you can find someone with a live machine that will let to play with theirs. I am not sure how much the narrow transducer plays a part if you are having problems getting a second echo on yours (LIVE), I would suggest turning off the advanced features (like BD/Accufish/Enhanced Rezboost) and turn the settings to MANUAL and crank that gain to get a second bottom.

That makes sense. Didn’t think of that. I’m not having any trouble with mine. I haven’t installed it yet - just trying to learn it in demo mode while I wait for transducer delivery.

I decided the SS264N outweighed the benefits of bottom discrimination and Rez boost capable transducers for hard bottom detection in 180’ and less. I hope I made the right call.

hi i have a 588 and when in water say 200m+ on low frequency if i put tvg on high the whole screen is clutter to the point its un useable is it true for the 588 the tvg should be put on low?
