587 & TM260 Which Transducer to select in Menu?

Have been out playing around with the setup, love it. What trans should I be selecting from the menu? I am not after bottom discrimination just want to be using the 1kw trans to its potential in the deep water 300m plus.

The Transducer menu setting is for ACCU-FISH and Bottom Discrimination modes and doesn't control the output power. The 587 adjusts it output power based on the impedance of the transducer.

So you are saying that there is no difference in selecting 1KW or selecting 526TID-HDD and turning off the ACCU-FISH and Bottom Discrimination. I have noticed if I have selected 1KW in A-scope it does not have the cone width dimension.

That is correct because there are quite a few options for 1Kw transducers that have different beam widths if you are using a MB-1100 matching box. But changing this setting doesn't affect the 587's output power.

What does matter in the 587's performance is turning on/off the ACCU-FISH or Bottom Discrimination modes. Using either of these two modes affects the pulse length of the 587. Also the 587 needs to use both frequencies when using either AF or BD for it's calculations even though you are only displaying full screen 50 or 200Khz.
